SHOWERSOF HOPE UTAH

To bring Dignity to those experiencing homelessness.

Our Mission

To bring Dignity to those experiencing homelessness.

It’s not just a shower…..

We’re creating pathways out of homelessness by providing FREE mobile showers, haircuts, meals, unconditional Love, addiction recovery mentoring, as well as mental health support. A one stop shop.

Showering the people with Hope.

About Us

It all started with my friend Debi Thelin who became unsheltered and living in her car when Covid happened. She decided to relocate to LA when winter came for warmer weather. We kept in touch during that time as she shared her humorous adventures living in her car, relying on The Shower of Hope in LA for showers and other needs.

She was able to land a great job which relocated her to New Mexica because of their support. The LA showers were invited on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and asked Deby to be interviewed with them.

When I saw the segment and all “The Shower of Hope” provided to support a pathway out of homelessness, like mental health resources, recovery resources, job leads, food and most of all Love, Dignity and respect, I was IN!!!! Both Deby and I had the same thought,” Let’s do one in SLC!!!

Phill Dugas jumped on board and we all traveled to LA to learn from “The Shower of Hope” in LA who were wonderful at teaching us and mentoring us to start one in SLC.

We contacted various large organizations with the hope of being funded and were turned down. We were able to raise a few funds from a FB birthday fundraiser and friends and family to purchase an old trailer that was gutted.

Then my friend Bob Neilsen stepped up and offered to to do the plumbing and electrical to install 2 showers. I spend many hours doing the rest…painting the inside and out, laying lenoleum, etc. Phil Dugas worked on the roof, laid the last section of lenoleum and installed shelves. We needed a truck and more funding for remolding the trailer so I asked my sister Diane Shaw Mason to donate from her and her husband’s trucking business and she said yes!!! While we waited for the trailer to be finished, I gave showers out of the back of the truck into a tent!!!

Bob and I added funds out of our own pockets to finish the rest and HERE WE ARE!!! Grass roots all the way baby!!! We couldn’t wait for “the powers that be” to do what needs to be done! We will still need funding for propane, gas, socks and underwear, green smoothies, etc. so we could really use ongoing support.
